Introducing Total Triage
Important changes to appointments October 2025
To improve the way we deliver care, we will soon be introducing a Total Triage system. This means all appointment requests will be reviewed by our clinical team to ensure you are directed quickly and efficiently to the most appropriate care.
As demand for GP appointments continues to rise, we are always looking for ways to improve your access. We are aware of the increasing wait times for routine GP appointments and have listened to your concerns.
This change is part of our commitment to providing better, more responsive patient care. We appreciate your support and understanding as we make this transition.
What is total triage?
Every medical and admin request to the practice will now come through as an online E-consult. Everything comes into the practice in one way, so it is easy to understand, and triage based on clinical need.
What does ‘triage’ mean?
‘Triage’ means assessing the needs of a patient to understand the urgency of their need for treatment and nature of the treatment needed.
What about patients who can’t use the online request?
For patients who are unable to use E-consult themselves, they can phone the practice, and a receptionist will complete the online form with them. This ensures that all requests come into the practice as E-consults. All E-consult messages will then be triaged and actioned by a clinician.
Do you need help?
If you or someone you care for is unable or prefers not to complete an online request, please contact our reception team—they will be happy to help.
This includes anyone who:
- Has difficulty with English or doesn’t speak it as a first language
- Has a learning disability
- Has a severe mental illness (SMI)
- Is an older adult
Please get in touch with our reception team, who will be glad to help.
